The hall has communal bathrooms on every floor. In each bathroom, there are two toilets and three showers. There is also a storage shelf and space under the sink to store shower caddies, toothbrushes, and any other bathroom items you need. 

Because we share bathrooms, residents are asked to be respectful of the space. The most important part of that is cleaning up after yourself. That includes wiping counters if you spill water and cleaning hair off shower walls when you use it, just like you would at home. 

In addition to the resident bathrooms, we have guest bathrooms on the first and second floor. Guests are NOT allowed to resident bathrooms and residents are NOT allowed to use guest bathrooms. There are no exceptions to these rules. 

The sleeping porches are where all Watkins residents sleep. We have a cold porch and a warm porch with 12 xL bunk beds each. The main benefit of the sleeping porches is that they are always quiet and always dark meaning you don't have to worry about anyone else's sleeping schedule. Every bed has at least one outlet to plug in phones, fans, or anything else you may need. Because the lights are always off in the sleeping porches, we recommend you try to change bed sheets during the day when it is bright enough to see. 

New residents choose their beds when they move in in the fall while returning residents choose the spring before the fall semester. During bed selection in the spring, you can keep your old bed, choose a new bed, or gift your bed to someone else if you are leaving the hall. You'll get to keep your bed for the whole year, but can move into empty beds or switch with friends if you'd like. There is a map on each sleeping porch door that shows who beds belong to.

Because we share a sleeping space, it is very important to be respectful. That means doors need to be closed silently, no talking or being on phones, and there are rules regarding the alarm policy. 

The laundry room contains two washers and two dryers that are first come first served. There is a shelf in the basement to keep your laundry supplies and you can write your name on it so no one else will use it. We also have a drying rack that anyone can use. In addition to laundry machines, we also store mops, rags, and bottles of cleaner that you are welcome to use. 

To keep things respectful, we only allow residents to use one washer and dryer at a time. On each machine is a dry-erase sheet where residents write their name and if they're ok with their laundry being moved if they aren't there. If so, a clean hamper should be left on the dryer. We also ask that residents don't leave their laundry in the machines for prolonged periods of time so machines are available to other residents. 

Our two biggest storage areas are the scary and the GK, but items are also stored in the kitchens. For a more comprehensive list of items in basement storage, click here. 

The scary is a supply closet that contains things like paper towel, hand/dish soap, and gloves. Typically if residents need supplies, they'll be in the scary. The scary also contains an overflow fridge and freezer that can be used by anyone. 

The general kitchen or GK is a storage space for all kitchen supplies (pots, pans, airfryer, etc.) residents may need as well as some raw ingredients like spices, flour, and sugar. There is also an large overflow freezer and an ice machine. 

In each kitchen, there is dishware, utensils, and other odd supplies like measuring cups, tupperware, and kitchen knives.
