Founded in 1926 by Elizabeth Miller Watkins (EMW), Watkins Hall is the oldest of the 12 Scholarship Halls at the University of Kansas. EMW's hope in creating the hall was to support women in receiving an education. The hall houses 49 women (and some non-binary residents) and boasts a rich culture and strong community. 

Watkins and Miller have 7 kitchens and each resident will be assigned to one every semester. When you graduate KU or leave Watkins or Miller, you get the option to join Kitchen 8. Kitchen 8, also called K8, is the Watkins-Miller alumni association created to further Elizabeth Miller Watkins' legacy and give alumni and residents a way to stay connected. Most relevant to current residents, Watkins has two alumni liaisons who invite us to taco nights, keep us updated on alumni goings-on, and bring treats for residents during finals week. K8 is an amazing resource to connect with alumni who can provide advice and mentorship. Every year, Watkins hosts Alumni Tea where we can socialize with alumni and graduating seniors receive gifts.
